This policy explains what Slatejack collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Slatejack LLC operates an online directory that introduces clients to independent trade businesses. We are the controller of the personal information described here. Slatejack LLC is not a contractor, employer or guarantor of any listed business and does not perform, supervise or inspect work. Contact us at Slatejackapp@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information: name, email address, phone number and city, supplied when you create an account.
Booking information: job description, service address, preferred date, contact phone, the rate snapshot copied from the business's published rate card, and your acknowledgement text and timestamp.
Business and verification information: legal entity name, contractor licence number, state, type and expiry, insurer name, policy number, coverage amount, workers' compensation status, the last four digits of an EIN, and any documents uploaded for review.
Billing information for businesses: membership plan, subscription status and billing period. Card details are handled by our payment processor; Slatejack never stores full card numbers.
Usage information: pages viewed, searches run, IP address, device and browser data collected through standard server logs.
3. How we use information
To operate the directory, run searches, deliver booking requests to businesses, and keep an immutable record of the rates agreed at booking time.
To verify contractor licences and insurance before a business can receive bookings.
To bill business memberships and manage subscriptions.
To investigate overcharge reports and other disputes, and to enforce our terms — including suspending or removing listings.
To send transactional messages about your bookings, listing or account. Marketing email is optional and can be turned off.
4. How we share information
With the business you book: your name, contact details, service address and job description are shared so the work can be scheduled.
With clients who view a listing: the business's public profile, licence number, published rates, reviews and verification badge.
With service providers: hosting, database, email delivery and payment processing vendors who act on our instructions.
With authorities or a state licensing board where required by law, or where a licence or insurance claim needs to be reported.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. Retention
Booking records, rate snapshots, acknowledgements, verification records and audit log entries are retained for at least four years, because they are the evidence base for pricing and liability disputes. Account records are deleted on request unless we must keep them for legal or dispute reasons.
6. Your California rights
If you are a California resident you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and a copy of the categories collected in the last 12 months. Email Slatejackapp@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
7. Security
Data is stored in access-controlled managed infrastructure with row-level security rules that restrict every record to the account that owns it and to platform administrators. No system is perfectly secure; report a suspected issue to Slatejackapp@gmail.com.
8. Children
Slatejack is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
9. Changes
We will post any change on this page and update the date above. Material changes will also be emailed to account holders.
